WILLIAM SHATNER, 90 YEARS

Canadian actor William Shatner is widely celebrated due to his role as Capt. James T. Kirk in the Star Trek: The Original. The sci-fi flick kickstarted the Star Trek universe, which now has seven spin-off TV series, two animated series, and thirteen blockbuster franchise films.

However, before he gained recognition for his role in Star Trek, the Montreal native was performing for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in their radio productions. He later entered college, attending McGill University and after graduated with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. Already having a reputation in performance arts, he quickly became the assistant manager of the Mountain Playhouse in Montreal. It was here where he debuted on stage in their production of Tom Sawyer (1952). Later on, the actor also dabbled in comedy, most notably for his role in Sandra Bullock’s 2000 hit comedy film, Miss Congeniality, and the sequel Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous.
