Fans have gotten used to seeing their favorite celebrities splitting up after a number of years together—some only for months, if not days. It seems to be a common sight in Hollywood today, and it is even more surprising if you’ve seen them together for decades.
Some manage to withstand the trial of time, though, spending their lives with one another for years, but we can’t deny that others fail to come out the victors of their own relationships. One minute they promise each other the world, and the next thing you know, they’re hiring their own lawyers.
We’re sure every single ex-couple has their reasons, but it is pretty sad to see this become a trend, especially among beloved power couples. While it would be nice to see them triumph over the Hollywood curse, no one is in the proper position to stop them. It’s their lives, anyway.
Their breakup may have something to do with the Hollywood marriage pressure and the negative connotation that comes with it. If you want to know the reason, check out this list to see why celebrity marriages fail.

Angelina Jolie & Billy Bob Thornton | 2 Years

Angelina Jolie is not one to shy away from controversy. It looks like she’s been eating it for breakfast, not minding any issues about her anymore. One of the biggest controversies that she’s been through is when she eloped with her Pushing Tin co-star Billy Bob Thornton. The two instantly connected when they did the movie in 1999, so they escaped and went to Las Vegas just a year into their relationship.

Their marriage wasn’t just a surprise for fans; it also brought a massive shock to Laure Dern, Billy’s fiancée at the time. Angelina even did a dramatic statement then, wearing jeans, a tank top, and boots on their wedding day. If that’s not enough, the ex-couple donned vials with each other’s blood around their necks. Angelina and Billy might have stood with their uncustomary choices, but being a married couple took its toll on them to an incredible degree. They ended up separating after two years.

Armie Hammer & Elizabeth Chambers | 10 Years

When Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers announced that they were going their separate ways after a decade of being married to each other, it sent the media into an unprecedented frenzy. Despite the many scandals surrounding Armie recently, we couldn’t deny that they had been happy together. They got two kids, Harper and Ford, to whom they mainly focus their attention today.

The ex-couple announced the sad news in a joint statement on Instagram. They revealed the number of years they had been together, 13, and their bond as best friends, soulmates, partners, and parents brought them on an incredible journey. Armie and Elizabeth, however, decided to move on from their marriage. It’s now their goal to continue their separation in a way that would least affect their children. Armie even asked the help of his lawyer to have joint custody of their kids so that he could still spend more time with them.

Anna Camp & Skylar Astin | 3 Years

Anna Camp and Skylar Astin broke their fans’ hearts when they announced their split following three years of marriage. Although nobody caught their chemistry in the movie, they ended up falling in love with each other. That love, however, seemed to be now gone. Fans didn’t have to worry, though, as the ex-couple promised they had ended their romance “mutually and amicably.” However, they did unfollow each other on social media.

Anna and Skylar didn’t reveal many details about their separation. They even asked for some privacy in this trying time. They only said things weren’t working out between them, so it was best to end their union. Anna said the split was pretty scary and liberating for her at the same time. Her life had changed, sure, but she gave this experience credit for making her feel more of herself than she ever had.

Adele & Simon Konecki | 7 Years

Seven years and several hit songs later, Adele and Simon Konecki have decided to call their marriage quits in a statement issued by the singer’s representatives. The former couple’s main concern now is co-parenting their son, Angelo. They’re both committed to raising their child with one another in the most loving way possible and provide everything Angelo needs.

They then asked for privacy, adding they would give no further comments about their separation. Adele and Simon like to be amicable for each other for their son’s sake. They didn’t want their breakup to be messy, thoroughly thinking of their decisions a hundred times so that it wouldn’t affect Angelo to any degree. Adele and Simon simply grew apart, though they had many common interests at the start of their relationship. According to sources, it might have something to do with Adele’s fame.

Audrina Patridge & Corey Bohan | 10 Months

Audrina Patridge’s romance with Corey Bohan turned out to be her most public relationship, though it was also the most tumultuous and brief. How rough was their separation, you ask? Corey’s the one who’s asking for child support from Audrina, saying she has the higher salary. She has several properties and different investments compared to him, who only earns $2,000 to $3,000 from his work.

The two tied the knot in late 2016, and after just ten months together, they went on their separate ways. Audrina revealed she needed to close a door so that she could continue moving forward in her life. She had no plans to look behind her after they finalized their separation. The reality star closed Corey’s chapter in her life, though she couldn’t deny it’s a lot harder with a kid involved. The two share a daughter, Kirra, who’s now Audrina’s main priority.

Anthony Mackie & Sheletta Chapital | 3 Years

Anthony Mackie and Sheletta Chapital managed to keep their separation under wraps. Still, they couldn’t escape the degree gossiping that followed. News about their breakup started when the 42-year-old star attended the red-carpet premiere of Avengers: Endgame without his then-wife. He used to participate in every red-carpet event with Sheletta before, so it was quite surprising that the actor showed up at the event without his other half.

It’s worth noting, though, that the former couple has always emphasized privacy regarding their relationship. The pair even tied the knot with only 150 close friends and family members in attendance. Anthony and Shelette chose not to talk about their split in public, so the reason for their breakup remains unknown. The only thing known about their separation is that they agreed to have an amicable relationship and share their kids’ custody. Anthony and Sheletta share four sons, whose names remain unknown to the public.

Ali Landry & Mario Lopez | 2 Weeks

Ali Landry and Mario Lopez enjoyed two weeks of being married before deciding to let their relationship go. We do give them credit, though, for dating for six years before tying the knot. What happened to their romance, you ask? Well, rumor has it that there was a third party involved.

Mario admitted that he had been unfaithful to Ali. While Ali tried to confront the situation, it became clear that they can no longer salvage their relationship. The ex-couple then put their focus on their careers after their marriage fell apart. Ali received a TV gig from the UPN sitcom Eve, while Mario became a correspondent for Extra. They have fully moved on and now have their own respective lives, partners, and families. Mario has three kids with his wife, Courtney Mazza, while Ali is married to Alejandro Gomez Monteverde and has three children.

Anna Murdoch Mann & Rupert Murdoch | 32 Years

Did you know that Anna Murdoch Mann and Ruper Murdoch had the most expensive separation in the world? Their settlement cost a whopping $1.7 billion. The said amount already included $110 million in cash, making Anna an instant millionaire— a billionaire even. With that much money in the bank, Anna is now free to start any high-earning investments she wants.

Don’t get this ex-couple wrong, though. The pair had been together for 32 years, tying the knot in 1967 and ending everything between them in 1999. They also share three kids, Elisabeth, Lachlan, and James Murdoch. Rupert, however, got married again to Wendi Deng, who’s 38 years old younger than him, just 17 days after the finalization of his split with Anna. The Scottish journalist, on the other hand, wedded the investor William Mann after several months. Sadly for Rupert, his romance with Wendi also ended after four years, though he’s wise enough to get a prenup this time.

Aaliyah & R. Kelly | 1 Year

Aaliyah’s marriage with R. Kelly was surrounded by huge controversy. Why? The late singer was reportedly only 15 years old when they got married. Meanwhile, the famous rapper was already 27 and an executive producer of his successful debut album Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number. If you’re wondering how they pulled it off, well, rumor has it that they faked Aaliyah’s age so that she could legally marry R. Kelly.

Both parties remained mum about the issue, but there were reports the Rock the Boat hitmaker had their marriage annulled due to her family’s disapproval. However, neither of their camps confirmed the rumors about their relationship and eventual marriage. With that said, we can assume that fans of the late pop star are still waiting for answers up to this day. Hopefully, their situation serves as a lesson for couples with huge age gaps.

Amber Rose & Wiz Khalifa | 1 Year

Amber Rose and Whiz Khalifa may have ended their romance, but their relationship remains to be fans’ goals. Despite their tumultuous one-year marriage, the two remained amicable.

Amber even revealed that Wiz would always be her best friend forever. However, she found out that they are better separated than together, so she’s happier with the relationship they now have. Wiz, on the other hand, admitted he’s sad when everything between them ended, especially since their son’s involved, and he couldn’t raise him anymore the way he wanted as a whole family. The ex-couple later give their separation the credits for being a blessing in disguise. Wiz revealed their separation helped him a lot, making him more present in the places where he’s needed. It was hard to walk from something you were used to, but Wiz said it also helped sometimes.

Angelina Jolie & Jonny Lee Miller | 1 Year

Don’t be surprised if you see Angelina Jolie on this list again. She has a total of three former husbands, Jonny Lee Miller included. He is her first husband, and though they were only teenagers when they started their romance, they made a pact to get married, and they did in 1996. They had a civil wedding, attended by only her mother, Marcheline Brandt, and Jonny’s best friend.

Just like her wedding with Billy Bob Thornton, it was a very casual one. Angelina donned black rubber pants and a white shirt with his name written across the back with her blood extracted with a clean surgical needle. She didn’t want to use her medical insurance on her special day, anyway. That didn’t help their marriage last, though, as they decided to part ways after just one year. Angelina admitted it was her fault, revealing she found it hard to be present in her relationships to get serious.

Anthony Hamilton & Tarsha McMillan | 10 Years

Anthony Hamilton and Tarsha McMillian decided to go on their separate ways after ten years of marriage and be role models for other younger couples. Their son, Princeton, was only three years old at the time, so they made their split amicable and shared that they had “no ill will for each other.”

Anthony was very excited about the birth of his son back then. Being a father is one of his greatest joys, so he did everything he could to be the best that he could be. He even gave them credit for teaching him to be more patient. When Princeton celebrated his eighth birthday, Anthony made sure he would be there, despite being separated from Tarsha. He shared some photos of the celebration on his Instagram, including a snap with Tarsha and their two other kids. It only proves that Anthony and Tarsha have the best co-parenting relationship.

Avril Lavigne & Chad Kroeger | 2 years

Sometimes it doesn’t work out, and that’s okay. That’s what Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have shown us. Several celebrity couples have shown us that people turn against each other when a marriage doesn’t work out. The two singers have proven otherwise. They have remained friends after they’ve separated. Furthermore, they have even shared a stage years after the split. Despite going their separate ways, I think that is actually what you’d call love.

In 2012, the two met, and their romance immediately blossomed. You could say that it was love at first sight to some degree as the two started dating just a few months after their first encounter. Furthermore, they got engaged just after a month of dating. In 2013, they tied the knot. However, the marriage ended as fast as it began. The two legally separated in 2015. Despite being short-lived, I think their story is still definitely one for the books.

Axl Rose & Erin Everly | 10 months

Have you seen the music video of Sweet Child O’ Mine? The girl featured in the video was Erin Everly. Later on, she would also be in the music video of It’s So Easy. Aside from her appearances in several Guns N’ Roses’ music videos, Everly is best known as the first wife of the band’s lead vocalist, Axl Rose.

In 1986, the two started dating. Four years later, in 1990, the two got married. After their marriage, the happily ever after of the couple proved to be a lot rockier than they may have expected. The two experienced a lot of trials and challenges. After ten months, they decided it would best that they go their separate ways. Despite the marriage ending, Rose reportedly said that the children in them were best friends. Love doesn’t always end as we would have expected. However, what matters here is that they tried, and I think we should give them credit for having the courage to try.

Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner | 10 years

Have you seen the hit romantic period drama Pearl Harbor? Besides having the credit of being one of the most amazing movies of all time, it is also responsible for bringing two of our favorite stars together. Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck first met on the set of the movie in 2000. However, their romance did not flourish until 2002. While they were still seeing other people at the time, Affleck stated that they fell in love during Daredevil’s production. Two years later, they officially started dating.

In 2005, on Garner’s 33rd birthday, Affleck proposed, and the two got engaged. A few months later, the two finally got married. It was one love story that a lot have kept tabs on. It was a romance that people have rooted and cheered on. Sometimes some things – even good things – come to an end. It was a long and winding road, but eventually, in 2018, the two legally separated. While they may have gone on different paths, it was evident to the world that they still loved each other.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie | 12 years

Who doesn’t know about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt? The two are some of the biggest stars in the industry. They have racked up some of our favorite characters of all time. Furthermore, they have accumulated some of the most coveted awards in Hollywood. Apart, they were already incredible. Together, we all have thought they were invincible.

In 2003 the two met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The two were still involved with other people but eventually fell in love with each other. It was love at first sight kind of thing. After years of their ups and downs as a couple, the two finally tied the knot in 2014. For a while, the power couple showed nothing but love for each other, but in 2019, their decade-long romance ended. To some degree, this has saddened a lot of people. However, some endings are just beginnings. Here’s to a brighter future for the two.

Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Esposito | 4 months

2006 was one rollercoaster of a year for Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Esposito. When people started speculating and gushing about their possible relationship, the two were quiet. They neither denied nor confirmed the theory but later confirmed that they were already engaged! The two tied the knot by the end of the year. However, four months after the wedding, they decided to go their separate ways.

Currently, the two stars look like they’re enjoying their lives. Esposito has gone on to write a memoir, while Cooper continues to star in numerous roles. He is currently involved in the production of the upcoming movie Nightmare Alley. In this film, he’ll be getting the credit for playing the role of Stanton “Stan” Carlisle! While a relationship may end, life doesn’t have to. We could move on from the bad and look forward to a brighter future!

Britney Spears & Jason Alexander | 55 hours

One of the shortest marriages in Hollywood history would be the one between Britney Spears and Jason Alexander. It all started – and also ended – in January 2004. The marriage lasted for a total of fifty-five hours!

Spears was in Las Vegas before the marriage took place. Marriage might not have been on her mind at the start of that day, but when she invited her childhood friend, Alexander, to come, the two decided to get married spontaneously. At approximately 5 a.m. on the 3rd of January, the two got married at A Little White Wedding Chapel. They were both not dressed for the occasion, especially since Spears was sporting a baseball cap and ripped jeans at the time. They didn’t really have any time to prepare for anything regarding the wedding. However, a witness recalls thinking that he believed that the marriage was going to last. While it started and ended too quickly, we have to give them credit for moving past it maturely.

Britney Spears & Kevin Federline | 3 years

It seems like the short-lived romance of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline started with a case of love at first sight. The two first met in 2004 and just a few months later got married. The ceremony happened in September. However, due to some delays with some documents, the legalization pushed back. Good thing officials legalized their documents the next month. Four days shy of the couple’s first wedding anniversary, they welcomed their first child, Sean Preston.

In 2006, they welcomed their second child, Jayden James. Eight weeks after their second child’s birth, the couple experienced some major problems. Ultimately, they decided that going their separate ways would be the best resolution. Despite splitting, they have maintained a friendly relationship. Instead of going at each other, the two have teamed up in raising their children. We have to give them credit for choosing to work together than fight for their children.

Brody Jenner & Kaitlynn Carter | 1 year

Let’s talk about Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter. The two are both influencers in their own right, but how did their romance blossom? Also, how did it end?

The two met at a party in 2013. While feelings were already in play from their first meeting, they didn’t start dating until a few months later, then kept a low profile regarding their relationship. While they’re not keeping it a secret, they weren’t exactly advertising it either. In 2016, the two got engaged. They didn’t immediately get married, though. The two only tied the know in 2018. Unfortunately, just a few days before their first anniversary, the two announced that they would be going their separate ways. We do have to give the two some credit. Unlike the many Hollywood splits we have seen, the two have chosen to lay low about the separation.

Brooke Shields & Andre Agassi | 2 years

80s sweetheart Brooke Shields used to be in a short-lived marriage with tennis play Andre Agassi. The blonde bombshell and the famous athlete were together for two years before lawyers finalized their marriage’s dissolution.

In an interview on The Today Show, Brooke talked about her relationship with Andre. She described the split as one that was not long and difficult to come to. She also revealed that Andre had once told her that he would have made the whole process more difficult if they had kids together. She said this statement was part of the reason why she decided to end her relationship with him. This interview also promoted the book she authored called It Doesn’t Have to Be That Way: How to Divorce Without Destroying Your Family or Bankrupting Yourself. The whole experience might not have been Brooke’s best moments, but she sure did grow a lot from going through it.

Bruce Willis & Demi Moore | 12 years

Several fans from the 90s considered this next couple the reigning Hollywood royalty back in the day. Many fans were over the moon when they found out that great actors Demi Moore and Bruce Willis got together. Eventually, Bruce and Demi enjoyed a good 12 years together as husband and wife and even built a family together. Their children are now all grown up, and they co-parent them together, but what went wrong in their relationship?

One of the problems of successful movie stars is that they spent a lot of their time away from home. The couple openly said that their split is because of this challenge. It wasn’t really the root cause, but it did aggravate the situation. Two years before their final divorce, sources say that they have been living separate lives already. Some of Bruce’s real estate investments have also gotten in the way of their marriage. On top of that, the media’s attention also took a toll on them and their family.

Carmen Electra & Dennis Rodman | 6 days

Carmen Electra has built an image for herself as a sultry and sexy celebrity. Through the years, she has been the face of a prestigious American magazine a total of 44 times. On top of this, Carmen was also the actress featured in Baywatch and Scary Movie. Being the beautiful woman that she is, Carmen got the attention of Dennis Rodman, one of the Chicago Bulls players.

When they met, they instantly started dating. Some said that Carmen was often lured to “bad boys,” so she and Dennis really had a great time together. They saw each other for a few months, but in 1998, they took their relationship up a notch by getting married in Las Vegas. They were both drunk, though, so when they came to their senses six days later, they decided to call it off. Well, at least they didn’t have to think about splitting investments considering the longevity of their marriage.

Chad Johnson & Evelyn Lozada | 41 days

There are some occasions where the man you thought was the love of your life turns out to be someone else when he’s in a different mood. That’s precisely what happened between NFL star Chad Johnson and his wife of 41 days, reality star Evelyn Lozada.

Chad apparently had some anger management issues, and the reason Evelyn wanted to leave the marriage was that he became too physical during an argument. The separation involved several lawyers, and after the entire ordeal, Johnson had decided to take anger management classes. It’s a good thing that he soon realized his fault and tried to be a better person. Chad also said in an interview that he knew Evelyn deserved better than how he treated her back when they were still together. Soon, he changed his last name to Ochocinco after all the issues he faced.

Chad Michael Murray & Sophia Bush | 5 months

One Tree Hill stars Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush met on the famous TV show’s set but didn’t start dating until 2003. They dated for two years and tied the knot two years later in 2005. The relationship might have made their fans happy, but it fell apart rather quickly. The two called it quits only five months into their marriage and got attorneys involved due to fraud accusations.

A decade after the split, Sophia wrote an essay that got featured in Cosmopolitan. There, she mentioned that she felt “pressured” to marry Chad back then. Sophia talked about how it was such a pressure for ladies to find the one true love and sometimes fails to realize that not all relationships will lead you there. She did say, however, say that they will serve some purpose in your life somehow.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan | 9 years

Hollywood A-listers and Step Up stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan were married for nine years before deciding to go their separate ways. While they were married, the two had a daughter together named Everly. Now that they have separated, the pair decided to have joint physical and legal custody of her.

They announced their split in an Instagram post they both published as their joint statement. In it, they said that their decision was mutual and that they recognize each other as best friends, and though that part hasn’t changed, they felt that it was time for them to take different paths. They still spoke lovingly of each other and still thought of each other as family. The degree of love and maturity is apparent in the celebrities’ intentions. We all know that it is hard to stay as a family when you’re in Hollywood, but these two saved all the good they have from the relationship and moved on from the bad.

Charlie Sheen & Brooke Mueller | 2 years

If you know who Charlie Sheen is, then you would know that the Two and a Half Men star has exchanged a couple of I dos to a few ladies, including Brooke Mueller, his third wife. They tied the knot in May of 2008 and had twins together. Unfortunately, however, just like his previous marriages, this one also ended in a legal separation.

When they decided to go to court to call off their marriage, lawyers noted that Charlie didn’t know the scope of his obligations in the prenup that they had. There have been multiple reports about Charlie’s undesirable behavior before and during the process of the separation. During their marriage, Charlie got accused of being too physical with his wife and received multiple misdemeanor reports. It seems like there were many causes for Charlie’s multiple failed marriages. We hope he and all his exes are doing better these days.

Charlie Sheen & Donna Peele | 6 months

When you get so lost in the moment, you can sometimes feel like nothing can go wrong. That’s why when Charlie Sheen and Donna Peele met, they felt like it was forever. They got married only six weeks after the meeting, but that their relationship was short-lived as well.

The love story between Donna and Charlie followed the typical romantic movie, but when they started getting on each other’s nerves, the separation was unavoidable. Six months after their relatively spontaneous wedding, they decided to go their separate ways. Charlie described their relationship to be “suffocating,” so he had to get up, gasp and breathe air in. He also likened their marriage to a car that was too broken to fix. They probably didn’t give enough thought and investment to their relationship. It really does pay to think things through.

Cher & Gregg Allman | 4 years

Musicians Cher and Gregg Allman met when they were both going through pretty rough patches in their lives. Cher had just broken up with Sonny Bono, and Gregg was grappling with a few unhealthy vices. Despite that, however, there was undeniable electricity between the two, and they decided to stick by their relationship.

The two got married the moment they had the chance. Three days after Cher’s marriage separation was finalized, the couple decided to get hitched in Las Vegas. After nine days, though, Cher was ready to file for a separation because Gregg’s vices were just too much for her. This didn’t push through, though, because their married life continued. When Cher decided to do Sonny and Cher Show with her former husband, Gregg wanted to leave this time. This decision did not push through as well because they found out Cher was pregnant. They finally called it quits for good in 1977 and their separation was finalized in 1979.

Chris Kattan & Sunshine Tutt | 1 month

Comedian Chris Kattan and model Sunshine Tutt were married a little more than a month a decade ago. They started seeing each other in 2005 after meeting at a birthday party. They were both in their 30s and thought that they had found great companionship with each other. They had a lot of fun while they were together, so they decided to get married on June 28, 2005, in Yosemite Valley, California. However, as dreamy as their wedding sounded, the magic between the two lasted for two months.

The court didn’t reveal the details about their breakup, but it didn’t surprise many people since the whole relationship moved quite fast. The connection they felt between each other was probably very strong, but when they came to their senses and the honeymoon stage ended, they realized they wanted different things. Of course, Chris and Sunshine have long moved on and are now busy minding their own lives and investments.

Chris Pratt and Anna Faris | 8 years

Former Hollywood power couple Anna Faris and Chris Pratt spent a good eight years as husband and wife before announcing their split via Facebook in 2017. In Chris’s post, he said that they really did everything that they could to save the marriage and that they were both upset that it didn’t work. The actor also added that though they have decided to go on different paths, they will continue to be friends for the sake of their son, Jack. Anna also tweeted about the split similarly. They have both stayed friends all these years, even though they have moved on with different partners.

Anna also admitted that she became competitive to a certain degree, which might have gotten in the way of her relationship with Chris and the men that came before him. However, she also expressed that she is still coming to terms with that trait up until today.

Chris Rock and Malaak Compton | 19 years

Having an honest and pure relationship in the middle of the Hollywood environment is undoubtedly a tricky thing to achieve. Often, stars who come together end up breaking up because of all the noise around them. Chris Rock and Malaak Compton were not so lucky either. Though they have been married for almost two decades, the pair still fell into the same legal separation hole where most Hollywood marriages go.

Unlike some celebrities, however, Chris became very vocal about their split after it happened. He even made it one of his topics during his comedy shows. The comedian admitted that he got involved with other women during the span of their marriage. He recognized the degree of his mistakes, and he used his experiences to tell the audience a lesson. Ending a 20-year marriage is not easy for anyone, and Chris might have just lost the best thing that ever happened to him, but we hope he learned his lesson.

Chris Randone and Krystal Nielson | 8 months

Stars of Bachelor in Paradise Chris Randone and Krystal Nielson may have had a blast on the show, but eight months after married life started, they quickly realized that they simply were not meant for each other. They decided to call off their marriage even if they were together for less than a year. They announced their split in February of last year in a joint statement. It said that they had to prioritize themselves first. They realized that there were necessary investments that they had to make to become better persons individually. They both said that they still respected and cared for each other but that they just had to go for what they both deserved.

The two fell in love on the hit ABC show and are very thankful that they both met through it, but not everything on-screen ends with a happy ending after all.

Christie Brinkley & Peter Cook| 6 YEARS

There’s a famous saying in the marriage world that goes, “once a cheater, always a cheater.” Though many believe that love can change a person, it still requires more than love and hard work to make it eternal. The same goes with Peter Cook, who was deep fried with rumors of infidelity amidst unconditional love.

Christine Brinkley and Peter Cook got married in 1996. Brinkley is a model and TV personality known for her career in modeling and endorsements and marriage with Billy Joel. Brinkley met Cook through a mutual friend in 1996. Their union bore them their daughter in 1998, and Cook adopted Brinkley’s son, Jack. Their marriage ended bitterly, involving lawyers and court trials in 2008. Reportedly, Brinkley filed a dissolution of marriage against Cook due to his illicit relationship with his assistant and several indecent activities during their marriage. Not long after, Cook married Suzane Shaw, who was present during the trial. It was not too long until Cook’s second marriage with Shaw fell apart. Shaw apologized to Brinkley for dismissing his history and siding with him, proving Cook’s infidelity and obscenity.

Christina Anstead & Ant Anstead | 2 YEARS

Quoting the lyrics of the song Breakeven by The Script – “when a heart breaks no it don’t break even” – hits all the spots of any relationship that falls apart. No matter the breakup cause, both ends are hurting and probably just coping with the situation differently. A perfect example is Christina and Ant Anstead’s split.

Christina and Ant started dating in 2018. The two must have found comfort with each other as they share the same story – both went out of a marriage and had two kids. The two equally gorgeous TV personalities had an intimate wedding in December 2018, attended by just 70 guests. They kept their followers updated throughout their marriage by regularly sharing their adventures and family updates on social media. One of the milestones they happily shared with their fans is their pregnancy announcement in March and their son’s birth in September 2019. Unfortunately, the couple also delivered the news of their breakup in the same manner. As per Ant, the decision to separate is Christina’s decision, and he hopes that she will be happy with it. There is no apparent reason for their split yet, but it seems that they are just not meant to be together. They have called their lawyers and are settling their papers.

Collin Farell & Amelia Warner| 4 MONTHS

Whether their marriage was legal or not, Amelia Warner considered Colin Farrell her first love even though their relationship only lasted for four months. Farrell started dating Warner in 2001. During that time, both actors were in their youth – Farrell was 24, and Warner was 19 – Farrell was on his way to stardom, while the English actress was already a leading lady in a TV series in the UK. They shocked the industry when they came home from a vacation wearing wedding bands on their ring finger. They had a ceremonial marriage by the beach in Tahiti in 2002, but after four months, Farrell and Warner announced their split. As Farrell explains it, it was a hasty decision of two young and passionate individuals.

On the bright side, the ex-couple is now in a better state, respectively. Farrell has two daughters from past relationships, while Warner is married to Jamie Dornan. Additionally, they got spared from spending money for hiring lawyers to represent them in court.

Colton Haynes & Jeff Leatham | 6 MONTHS

Over the years, Colton Haynes had several ups and downs due to the painful string of events in his life. Haynes initially struggled with his career being affected by rumors of his gender preference. As he finally admitted his true identity, Haynes also came forward with his relationship with the florist and writer Jeff Leatham. Pamela Anderson & Rick Salomon | 2 months

Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon are one of the wildest sets of couples you will ever find in Hollywood. Sure, it almost comes naturally for celebrities to have short-lived marriages, it is also common for celebrity couples to have on-again, off-again relationships. However, it is not usual for them to have on-again, off-again marriages, which is definitely the former couple’s thing.

They were both 47 years old when they first tied the knot in October 2007. Unfortunately, just after two months, they got an annulment. In January 2014, they rekindled their romance and decided to secretly walk down the aisle for the second time around. However, after just 6 months of being together, Anderson split up with Salomon yet again. Fortunately, they are still good friends. They were truly head over heels for each other, they were practically inseparable for 17 months after they tied the knot in 1996, but they called it quits in 1997. Their split was due to irreconcilable differences.

Their whirlwind romance is truly one of a kind. The Grammy award-winning singer was knocked off her feet and he just knew he saw a future with her, but this romance turned out to be short-lived. It was Beckerman’s first time getting married. However, this is not the first time that the Hollywood songstress had a short marriage, she was also known for tying the knot with Emilio Estevez, which lasted for just 3 years. Now, Abdul has a whopping net worth of $30 million, which goes to show how good she is at money management.

Paula Abdul & Emilio Estevez | 3 years

This short-lived romance started over the phone. Paula Abdul was still dating Full House’s John Stamos when she got a call from Emilio Estevez to say he was a fan of hers, expressing his admiration of her work. She is, after all, an award-winning singer.

Their relationship was limited through the landline. It wasn’t until 1991 when Abdul came to New York City while she was on tour that she got a message stating that the actor was also at the same hotel. After meeting over dinner, Estevez sent flowers and letters to every city she visited on her tour. They dated for about six months until he proposed to her in Minneapolis while he was filming The Mighty Ducks.
It was April 1992 when the former couple tied the knot at the Santa Monica courthouse. They kept the ceremony private. They were only married from 1992 to 1994 when Abdul decided it was time to end things with Estevez. One of the things they did not agree upon was the fact that the singer wanted kids, but he couldn’t handle any more as he was already a father of two. After the split they might have had to divide up some property investments they purchased together.

It was 2006 when Witherspoon and Phillippe announced that they were going their separate ways. However, they are still very involved in their kids’ lives. With that being said, their kids must have property investments to their name now.

Richard Gere & Cindy Crawford | 4 years

Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford were the ultimate love birds of the eighties and the nineties. Their relationship was closely followed by the tabloids as there were basically one of Hollywood’s A-list couples. The supermodel was only 22 years old when she already got featured on over 300 magazine covers, while Gere was one of the most sought-after actors in the entertainment industry as he was practically a heartthrob. The former lovers met at a backyard barbeque party of the renowned fashion photographer Herb Ritts. They instantly hit it off, going on date after date. They felt so much electricity whenever they were together.

Last-minute Las Vegas weddings are really common in the United States and that was exactly what these former lovebirds had. It was 1991 and they exchanged vows and solidified their union with a pair of aluminum foil fashioned into rings. However, in 1995 they decided to call it quits. Being apart from each other due to being on-demand stars and their age difference were two of the many reasons why they decided to split up. Crawford and Gere are now happy with their own separate families.

Rudolph Valentino & Jean Acker | 1 day

Silent film star Rudolph Valentino was one of Hollywood’s first ever heartthrobs and Jean Acker was the lucky gal who snatched him right up. The former pair instantly became friends and later tied the knot on November 6, 1919.
However, immediately after the wedding, Jean regretted the union. On their wedding night, she locked her new husband out of their hotel room.

Shannen Doherty & Ashley Hamilton | 5 months

George Hamilton’s son, Ashley Hamilton was caught in a whirlwind romance with Shannen. These former celebrity lovers were only dating for two weeks when they abruptly decided to tie the knot in October 1993. Clearly, they were both love drunk when they got married, because their union quickly ended just as quickly as they started. They both called it quits in April 1994, just 5 months after they got married.

After the pair split up 26 years ago, Hamilton was doing amazingly well for himself. He must have learned a lot about being young and reckless, giving credit to his union with Doherty. He is now a well-respected director and actor. He is now a hands-on father to his daughter Willow, whom he shares with his girlfriend Renee Karalian. Doherty, on the other hand, has been married to Kurt Iswarienko since 2011.

Shannen Doherty and Rick Salomon | 9 months

Actress Shannen Doherty attempted her second marriage with a man she had allegedly dated for two days. In 2002, while starring in Charmed, the TV star married famous poker player Rick Salomon. Salomon, who had already demonstrated a fondness for celebrities by dating Drew Barrymore and Nicole Marie Lenz, in addition to being married to Elizabeth Daily from 1995 to 2000), was instantly smitten with the actress. However, their marriage quickly showed cracks and was not the picture-perfect relationship it seemed to fans.

Doherty’s separation from Salomon was finalized in 2003, just nine months after they wed, with the help of their lawyers. Although she admitted at the time that she had made a mistake in marrying him, she was still deeply affected by the relationship’s decimation. They both acknowledged regret for their clumsy decisions and remain sad about how things ended.

Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson | 5 years

One of the Knowles daughters is single, and it’s not Beyonce, despite the fact that she and husband Jay-Z have been open about their problems. Solange Knowles, Beyonce’s younger sister, announced her separation from Alan Ferguson, her husband of five years, on November 1, 2019. While Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s marital problems have been publicized through their songs, Solange has been notoriously discreet about her 11-year relationship and love investment with Ferguson. Despite this, the high-art couple, who married on November 2014, in a perfectly stylish wedding at New Orleans’ Marigny Opera House, called it quits just days before their fifth anniversary.

Knowles confirmed her break up to fans in an Instagram post that has since been erased. To the great shock of many readers, she revealed that she had been estranged from her husband earlier that year. She made it clear, however, that she was not resentful about the breakup, referring to Ferguson as “a phenomenal man who changed every existence of my life.”

Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel | 10 years

When Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs announced their split in 2013, true love passed away a little all over everything — or, at least, that’s how it felt to the couple’s swarms of devoted fans. The actors had been married for ten years when they announced their breakup in a tactful joint statement. They met while working on the hit Broadway musical Rent in 1995. They married in 2003 and share a son named Walker.

After a year of disconnection with no known moves toward taking the next step in their separation, Menzel and Diggs shocked the public once more by quietly and quickly filing for, and then finalizing, their annulment with the help of their lawyers. Neither has ever assigned a specific reason for the breakup, and their breakup has been one of the cleanest and classiest of all time, leaving fans with nothing but questions.

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren | 5 years

Woods had already become a living legend for his immense talent in golf prior to their meeting, while Nordegren came from Stockholm, Sweden. The couple met while Nordegren was working as a full-time maid for Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik’s family. Parnevik and his wife were the ones who first introduced the former couple.

Woods previously claimed that he held out hope to work on his marriage with Nordegren while taking a “indefinite break” from his golfing profession. The couple, however, was unable to reconcile and eventually separated on August 23, 2010, their separation was officially finalized in the Bay County Circuit Court in Panama City, Florida. They would go on to have two children named Ruby and Otis. Unfortunately, the couple separated in 2016, as so many Hollywood marriages do. Speculations also circled around that they had been living separately and had already been dividing their joint investments prior to their announcement of their split.

Since their breakup in 2016, both have been associated with different partners. Maguire is dating the model Tatiana Dieteman. They have been spotted out and about in photos compiled by The Daily Mail in May 2020. Meyer was said to be romantically involved with NBA agent Rich Paul the preceding year, but it’s uncertain if they’re still together, according to Extra. Despite their obvious discrepancies, Meyer paid tribute to Maguire in an Instagram post on Father’s Day in 2020, praising the actor for being a wonderful father. Marriages and marital relationships can be difficult, but it appears that the former lovebirds have mastered the art of co-parenting.

Tom Cruise and Mimi Rogers | 3 years

On May 9, 1987, 24-year-old Tom Cruise silently swapped marital vows with Mimi Rogers, an actress six years his senior, in a small upstate New York ceremony. According to reports, even Cruise kept his publicist in the dark about the whole thing. The confidentiality provided the couple with precisely what they desired: protection from the hungry press. Rogers, the ex-wife of Scientologist Jim Rogers, was better known for her relationships than her films: Tabloids linked her to Tom Selleck, Christopher Reeve, and Robert Shriver.

On the other hand, Cruise kept his personal life very private, having had only one high-profile love affair (with Risky Business costar Rebecca De Mornay). Since then, neither party has seemed particularly eager to return to the past. Cruise has been preoccupied with his children and has continued to appear in action films. Rogers has been working more behind the scenes but has also appeared in minor roles in film and television. They separated with the help of their lawyers and have remained estranged ever since.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes | 6 years

In the 1980s, while growing up in a small town in Ohio, Holmes fantasized about her favorite movie star, Tom Cruise. She even did interviews while on the hit Television series Dawson’s Creek about her crush on Cruise and how she dreamed about marrying him one day. Fortunately for her, her wish got granted. Shortly after meeting Cruise in 2005, reports began to circulate that the two were head over heels in love. Cruise had recently separated Nicole Kidman, and Holmes appeared to be the ideal girlfriend for him.

However, despite their initial fairytale romance, the universe did not spare the couple from Hollywood’s marriage curse. In 2012, lawyers from both camps officially dissolved their marriage. The couple did not give a reason for their split. To this day, neither has spoken about the separation. Holmes has moved on with her life and is now devoting her time to raising her daughter, Suri.

Tracy Morgan and Megan Wollover | 5 years

Tracy Morgan and Megan Wollover have ended their five-year relationship. On July 29, The Hollywood Reporter, TMZ, and other media organizations confirmed the split. Morgan and Wollover met in 2011 on a blind date set up by a common acquaintance and got engaged a year later.

The actor revealed their engagement to the press during the 2012 Emmy Awards. However, it was not until August of 2015 that the couple would exchange their vows. Everything looked promising for the two considering that their wedding came just shortly after Tracy got involved in a near-fatal accident. During their marriage, the couple welcomed their first and only child together, Maven Sonae. Although their lawyers have already finalized their separation, Megan and Tracy remain on good terms for the sake of their seven-year-old daughter. Nowadays, the comedian is more focused on his career and is currently working on a slew of new projects.

Uma Thurman and Gary Oldman | 1 ½ years

Several people considered Uma Thurman and Gary Oldman as some of the most stunning Hollywood couples in the early 1990s. Their marriage, however, lasted only a few years. In 1990, Oldman began dating his second wife, the promising young actress Uma Thurman, after getting introduced by Sean Penn. She was 12 years her junior, but neither that nor Oldman’s vices prevented the couple from marrying in October of the same year.

Uma’s career was on a downward degree at the time of her marriage. The attractive young actress deliberately chose her roles, hoping to gain admiration for her acting talent rather than her looks. However, it took a considerable amount of effort to make her relationship with her husband work. The marriage fell apart after two years, and neither of the ex-spouses ever discussed breakup reasons. Rumor has it that Uma broke up with Gary in a letter stating that he was difficult to live with. Thus, the actor decided to distance himself so as not to tarnish his young wife’s life.

Vanessa Morgan and Michael Kopech | 6 months

Michael Kopech of the Chicago White Sox and Vanessa Morgan of Riverdale now live separately after six months of marriage. Now, ending a marriage after only six months is sad enough, but what’s even more heartbreaking about Vannessa and Michael’s separation is that the actress was pregnant at the time of their split. Morgan’s attorney verified to PEOPLE that Kopech is the father of Morgan’s upcoming child but refuses to elaborate on the annulment filing. The separation announcement came just days after Morgan, 28, announced her pregnancy.

Vanessa Morgan from Riverdale has encountered some strenuous highs and lows in 2020. Morgan married White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech in early January 2020 after what appeared to be a fairy-tale courtship, and in July 2020, Morgan revealed that she was pregnant with her first child. “I am beyond thrilled to be welcoming my baby boy into the world this January,” the actress wrote on Instagram.

Wendy Williams and Kevin Hunter | 20 years

Wendy Williams appears to be doing well after breaking up with her husband of more than 20 years, Kevin Hunter. Hunter and Williams separated after Hunter fathered another child with another woman. The television personality addressed to Tasha K, a social media personality, that he began meeting with another lady due to Wendy’s hectic workload. He also claimed that Williams’ reliance on harmful vices took a heavy toll on their marriage, a struggle that Williams has always been open with.

Insiders told The Daily Mail that she relapsed in 2019 due to the realization that Hunter’s mistress was pregnant with his child. Williams went to a treatment facility before ending the relationship. During one discussion, Williams stated that she was not in the facility to avoid relapsing but rather to get away from Hunter after leaving the relationship and organizing her financial affairs and investments.

Will Arnett and Penelope Ann Miller | Under a year

Will Arnett and Penelope Miller are easily one of the most forgettable couples in Hollywood due to their lack of chemistry and low presence in media and tabloids. It didn’t help either that Arnett later married Amy Poehler, who quickly overshadowed his previous marriage. The couple met back in 1993 and started quite well, resulting in their marriage in December of the following year.

Unfortunately for the couple, things got messy between them a few months into their marriage. They ultimately agreed on calling their lawyer and file for a legal separation in 1995. It almost feels like a fever looking back at their relationship because fans hardly saw the two together. They didn’t have kids, and it’s safe to say that breaking up was a great decision for both of them. Neither of the two has spoken about their relationship and have moved on rather quickly from their marriage.

Will Smith and Sheree Zampino | 3 years

While everyone is used to seeing Will Smith with Jada, it’s also worth noting that the actor was previously married to another woman before meeting Pinkett Smith. Smith and Zampino married in 1992 and had their son, Trey, the following year. But when Smith befriended Pinkett Smith, he knew she was the one. However, when Will met Jada in 1994, the connection he felt was almost instant that when Sheree decided to pull the plug on their marriage, Will wasted no time to get together with Jada.

According to The List, Zampino ended the relationship on Valentine’s Day, just a few years into their marriage. By December 1995, the two had legally separated. There was no infidelity at the end of their marriage. Instead, Zampino pointed out that she and Smith met when they were young and grew apart. Nowadays, the former couple is busy managing their investments and continuously support their son, Trey.

Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard | 3 years

Zooey Deschanel and Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard’s separation has been finalized nearly a year after three years of marriage. According to their respected attorneys, counseling or mediation was no longer enough to salvage the marriage at the tail-end of it. Whatever went wrong between them had to have been extremely damaging that even professionals concluded dissolution of marriage was a far better option.

However, despite going through a tragic marriage breakup, we can clearly see that Zooey is in a much happier place these days. The same goes for Ben. The musician has even addressed some speculations surrounding the songs he released in 2015, saying that lyrics will always be about his life and the lives of the people around him. Because of this, people have speculated that the singer wrote a song or two about the actress. Whichever song that is, we just hope that he could release all his emotions and is successfully moving on from the incident.

Zsa Zsa Gabor and Felipe De Alba | 1 day

Zsa Zsa Gabor loved being married or at least wedding ceremonies so much that she experienced it nine times in her entire life. Felipe de Alba, an attorney and occasional actor from the 1940s and 1950s, was second-to-last in her line of husbands. He wasn’t the only actor to marry Zsa Zsa, though, as the actress dated a couple more notable men throughout her life.

Zsa Zsa’s marriage to Felipe in 1983 stunned tabloid news writers, but they didn’t have long to express their feelings. The wedding took place on April 13, a Wednesday. Later that day, sources revealed that her previous marriage to Michael O’Hara had not been legally dissolved. As a result, the actress had to legally separate from Alba just one day after exchanging their vows. To this day, their union remains iconic for being one of the shortest marriages in Hollywood history.
